What team is phreak on?
David Turley (aka Phreak) came from competitive play on Warcraft 3 to work on the Riot Staff, know for his overinflated ego and talking really fast he found himself a good spot as a League of Legends promoter and commentator. In the last 2 years that LoL has grown, phreak’s popularity has spiked a few times (up and down).
Phreak lost a lot of the EU player’s respect on WCG 2010 where he was not only biased but also made fun of the SK Team while the final was being played when both team could clearly hear him, some even question if the result would have been the same if he didn’t put SK in such great pressure during their second game.
Comments like “Where’s the camera man? I want a close up on their sad faces!” made some people not only rage on phreak but also on Riot itself. He was a official commentator for WCG and thus he shouldn’t be taking part on any side. He was there for everyone to watch, and rooting for one of the teams when they were hearing didn’t make the game any fair, putting the European team under unnecessary pressure.
I have been question many times, does Phreak now play on any professional team on League of Legends? The answer is no, he earns quite good already on Riot, it would seem a bit biased for a member of the staff to play on an official event and he doesn’t have good fame on the matter.
So will he eventually be on a professional team for LoL? I don’t see him getting fired anytime soon, but if he leaves Riot for any reason or if for some reason LoL dies, he might. But I wouldn’t bet on any of the 2 happening any time soon!
